Simulation-based development of Peer-to-Peer systems with the RealPeer methodology and framework

چکیده
In the process of developing Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems, simulation has proved to be an essential tool for the evaluation of existing and conceived P2P systems. So far, in practice, there has been a clear separation between a simulation model of a P2P system and a real P2P system that operates on a real physical network. This separation hinders the transition of models to real systems and the evaluation of already deployed systems by means of simulation. To bridge this gap, we put forward the idea of simulation-based development of P2P systems. In this approach, an initial simulation model of a P2P system is iteratively transformed into the intended real P2P system. As a concretion of this approach, we propose a methodology and a framework for the simulation-based development of P2P systems. The presented framework effectively supports a developer in modelling, simulating and ultimately developing P2P systems. We demonstrate the validity of our approach and the framework by constructing an example P2P application. This application is simulated in a series of experiments as well as deployed in a large-scale internet-based P2P system. 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

TAC: A Topology-Aware Chord-based Peer-to-Peer Network
Among structured Peer-to-Peer systems, Chord has a general popularity due to its salient features like simplicity, high scalability, small path length with respect to network size, and flexibility on node join and departure. However, Chord doesn’t take into account the topology of underlying physical network when a new node is being added to the system, thus resulting in high routing late...

Many people die each year due to smoking. Social pressures, such as peer pressure, which are manifested in one's interactions with his/her peers, are from very effective factors in people's tendency to smoke. In this research, it was attempted to study and analyze peer pressure in smoking and its impact on some of the welfare indicators including mortality number due to starvation, wealth avera...

متن کاملA Genetic Programming-based trust model for P2P Networks
Abstract— Peer-to-Peer ( P2P ) systems have been the center of attention in recent years due to their advantage . Since each node in such networks can act both as a service provider and as a client , they are subject to different attacks . Therefore it is vital to manage confidence for these vulnerable environments in order to eliminate unsafe peers . This paper investigates the use of genetic ...
